Volunteer Opportunities

We are so glad that you want to volunteer!

Whether you want to volunteer once or on an ongoing basis, we are so grateful you’re here and ready to sign up!

All volunteers at Tettegouche are required to register with the park BEFORE they can volunteer.  The registration process involves filling out a volunteer agreement form and a volunteer background check.  The forms and the process for volunteering can be found HERE.  Please note that the process of reviewing your completed forms and receiving approval does take some time, so if you have any interest in volunteering at any time throughout the year, please take the time NOW to complete and submit your forms.

Take a look at the current opportunities to volunteer listed below.

We respect your privacy by only showing your first name and last initial when you sign up.  Expect to receive reminder emails a week before and 2 days before the event.

Nature Play Area Monitor

Event Chair: Jill Beim

DETAILS:

Once a week, a volunteer will check on the nature play area and fix or report any issues that they find.  Volunteers are expected to:

    • Walk the paths and inspect each play area. Note any downed trees or other obstacles in the paths or play areas. Using your own loppers or snips, remove any small branches or debris from path that may be a tripping hazard.
    • Return stream toys to baskets on bridge.  Remove any broken pieces and report.
    • Make sure there are enough checkers and tic tac toe pieces to play the games.  Tic tac toe in central play area by play table.  Table with both checkers and tic tac toe is in the Cedar Grove.
    • Replenish bird seed in the Chickadee Hollow Feeding Station in the Cedar Grove.  Ask Kurt Mead at Visitor Center for bird seed.
    • Gather any wood building materials, sticks, stones, bark, pinecones etc. to the messy materials area and/or play table.  Distribute materials so there is enough for both play areas
    • Retrieve any round stones or wood balls from the woods and return to the baskets for marble run.  There should be 4 round stones and 3 wood balls.
    • Inspect the looms and report any broken warp/strings
    • Inspect the stump pyramid and make sure there are no wobbly stumps.
    • Inspect stick building areas - make sure there are enough sticks for building.  Report if most sticks are gone or have been taken by picnickers and campers.
    • Inspect musical instruments and report any missing or broken pieces.
    • Report anything that needs to be fixed or replaced by using this form or emailing jill@friendsoftettegouche.org.

REMINDER!  You MUST be REGISTERED as a volunteer BEFORE you can help as a nature play monitor.  REGISTER HERE.
